Patna: Railway authorities have announced temporary diversions for multiple trains, including the Vande Bharat Express, due to ongoing yard remodelling work at Jaunpur Junction in Uttar Pradesh. The station falls under the Lucknow division of Northern Railway.
The changes come as part of pre-non-interlocking and non-interlocking operations, a critical phase in railway infrastructure upgrades. Officials said the work would require adjustments to train movements throughout May, affecting services passing through the jurisdiction of East Central Railway.
Several long-distance trains will run on diverted routes during this period. These include the Barauni–Gondia Express, Shalimar–Gorakhpur Express, Valsad–Muzaffarpur Express and Kolkata–Ghazipur City Express. Instead of their usual paths, these services will be rerouted via Aunrihar, Varanasi City, Varanasi Junction and Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Junction.
Other trains, such as the Kota–Patna Express, Raxaul–Anand Vihar Terminus Express, Tata–Amritsar Express and Indore–Patna Express, along with the Patna–Gomti Nagar Vande Bharat Express, will operate through the Lucknow–Sultanpur–Zafarabad corridor.
Railway officials also confirmed that stoppages at several stations will remain suspended for the duration of the work. These include Jaunpur, Mirzapur, Vindhyachal, Prayagraj Chheoki, Ayodhya Dham, Shahganj, Akbarpur and Barabanki.
Passengers have been advised to check the latest train schedules and route information before travelling to avoid disruption. The diversions will remain in place until the completion of the remodelling work.
