Patna: The Bihar government has relieved two senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officers of the rank of deputy inspector general (DIG) following approval of their central deputation, the home department said on Thursday.
Naveen Chandra Jha, a 2009-batch IPS officer currently serving as DIG of the Vigilance Investigation Bureau, has been appointed DIG in the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) on deputation. Deepak Barnwal, a 2010-batch officer posted as DIG in the Special Branch of the Bihar Police, has been appointed DIG in the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB).
The state Home Department (Police Branch) has formally relieved both officers with effect from the date they relinquish their present charges, enabling them to join their respective central postings. Their services have been placed at the disposal of the Union Ministry of Home Affairs.
Earlier on Thursday, Rakesh Rathi, Inspector General (IG) of the Special Branch, was also relieved for central deputation. He has been appointed as a joint secretary in the Ministry of Home Affairs.
