Patna: An immersive wildlife film produced by Rajgir Zoo Safari has won the Best Animation Film award at the 16th Dadasaheb Phalke Film Festival 2026, marking a notable achievement for Bihar in the field of creative storytelling and environmental awareness.
Titled The Wild Call, the 12-minute, 180-degree animated film was honoured at a ceremony held on April 30, celebrating the legacy of Dadasaheb Phalke.
A Blend Of Technology And Storytelling
The film, produced under the Department of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Bihar, was directed by Naveendh S. Fareed and Azharuddin Sulaiman.
Officials said the project combines advanced animation techniques with immersive storytelling to present India’s biodiversity through the journey of lion and tiger cubs.
Showcasing India’s Biodiversity
The narrative spans diverse ecosystems, including the Indian Ocean, the Western Ghats, the Himalayas and the Thar Desert, introducing audiences to 23 wildlife species such as the Indian elephant and the great Indian bustard.
The film also addresses themes such as climate change, habitat conservation and human-wildlife coexistence.
Backed By Forest Officials
The project was guided by Gopal Singh, regional chief conservator of forests, and Ramasundar M, director of the safari.
Music for the film was composed by Ghibran Vaibodha, contributing to its immersive experience.
Recognition For Bihar
Ramasundar M said the award was a significant milestone for the team and highlighted Bihar’s potential in combining innovation with public awareness initiatives.
Officials said the recognition positions Bihar as an emerging contributor to environmental communication through creative media, with the film aimed at educating audiences while engaging them visually.
