Gaya: A free community kitchen named Pramod Jan Aahar Seva Kutir has been started in Gaya city by people associated with the Pramod Laddu brand. The initiative provides free daily meals to visitors and local residents.
The facility is located near the Bengali Ashram close to the Vishnupad Temple area in Gaya. Organisers say the meals served are prepared to a high standard and are available without charge every day.
Focus on community welfare
The initiative adds to a number of community-led food programmes operating across Bihar. Such efforts are often aimed at supporting pilgrims, economically weaker sections, and people in need of affordable meals.
In Patna, the Mahavir Mandir trust runs a similar free meal service for destitute people. Near Gandhi Maidan, the Bhamashah Sansthan provides full meals for Rs. 10.
Several hospitals in Patna also host food services run by Sai Ki Rasoi, where meals are available for Rs. five during the evening hours.
Similar initiatives across Bihar
Community food support programmes are also active in districts including Begusarai, Chhapra, Hajipur and Sonepur. In many places, these services are operated through local “Roti Bank” networks that distribute meals to people in need.
Social workers and community organisations have increasingly highlighted the importance of such initiatives in addressing hunger and supporting vulnerable groups across the state.
