New Delhi: National Testing Agency has announced that the re-examination for NEET UG 2026 will be conducted on June 21, following the cancellation of the earlier examination amid allegations of a paper leak.
According to the agency, the revised examination date was finalised after receiving approval from the Central Government.
The NEET UG 2026 examination had earlier been scrapped after reports of an alleged question paper leak triggered widespread controversy across several states, including Bihar. Investigating agencies subsequently launched probes into suspected malpractice networks linked to the examination.
In a brief statement, the NTA said the NEET UG 2026 re-examination would now be held on Sunday, June 21, 2026.
The paper leak controversy had sparked protests and demands for accountability from students and parents across the country, with concerns raised over the integrity of one of India’s largest medical entrance examinations.
Earlier investigations into the alleged leak led to multiple arrests in Bihar, particularly in districts such as Nalanda, where police and central agencies uncovered suspected links to organised “solver gangs” accused of facilitating examination malpractice.
The cancellation of the original examination had affected lakhs of medical aspirants nationwide, many of whom had demanded a transparent and secure re-examination process.
The NTA is expected to release detailed guidelines, admit card schedules and examination-related instructions in the coming days.
