Patna: Passengers travelling on the Danapur–Koderma Intercity Express faced disruption on Monday morning after the train developed a technical fault shortly after departing from Danapur Railway Station. Railway officials said the engine malfunctioned just after the train left Platform 2, forcing it to halt within a short distance.
Train Halted Soon After Departure
According to railway sources, the train had moved only about 100 metres from the platform when the engine developed a fault. Initial checks indicated a failure in the power unit, following which the control room at Danapur was informed.
A technical team was sent to inspect the engine, but the issue could not be resolved immediately. The train remained stationary for nearly two hours as railway staff worked to restore operations.
Passengers Face Heat And Long Wait
The delay caused inconvenience for passengers travelling to stations including Khusrupur, Fatuha, Harnaut, Bihar Sharif, Pawapuri, Nalanda and Koderma.
With temperatures rising through the morning, many passengers stepped off the train and waited under shaded areas on the platform. Elderly travellers and children were among those affected as many remained without access to refreshments during the delay.
Replacement Engine Arranged
Railway authorities later arranged a replacement engine from the yard. The train resumed its journey after the new locomotive was attached.
Some passengers chose to leave the train and travel towards Patna Junction by auto-rickshaw, while others stayed on board until services resumed. Officials said the train departed around two hours behind schedule.
