New Delhi: Food Processing Minister Chirag Paswan stated that the third edition of World Food India is a significant milestone in India’s leadership in the food processing industry. He highlighted that the event brings together global partners, industry leaders, policymakers, and innovators, demonstrating India’s economic resilience and growth.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his message for the event, emphasized the transformative reforms in the food processing sector over the last decade. He spoke about initiatives like 100% FDI, the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Sampada Yojana, and the formalization of micro food enterprises, which have contributed to building modern infrastructure, robust supply chains, and job creation. Modi stressed India’s commitment to empowering small enterprises and promoting women as micro-entrepreneurs.
The event saw the participation of global minds in exhibitions, Reverse Buyer-Seller Meets, and country-specific sessions. The Prime Minister also noted India’s farmer-driven food ecosystem, rich in nutrition and taste, which is being supported through innovative policies and modern agricultural practices.
The Global Food Regulators Summit, organized by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), brought together experts from organizations like WHO and FAO to discuss food safety, quality standards, and best practices. Key topics included food irradiation, plant-based proteins, and promoting a circular economy.
A CEO Roundtable, co-chaired by Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal and Chirag Paswan, focused on promoting investments and enhancing ease of doing business. The roundtable saw participation from over 100 senior executives from various industries, highlighting India’s efforts to boost global partnerships.
Inaugurating the event alongside Pralhad Joshi and Ravneet Singh Bittu, Chirag Paswan and other officials launched over 50 food processing units and sanctioned subsidies to 25,000 PMFME beneficiaries. Seed capital was also disbursed to 70,000 members of Self-Help Groups, marking another step towards India’s sustainable food future.
