Patna: The Bihar government has announced the release of the next installment under the Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana, bringing relief to lakhs of women associated with self-help groups across the state.
Rural Development Minister Shrawon Kumar said on Friday that eligible beneficiaries will receive Rs 20,000 in their bank accounts within this month as part of the second phase of the scheme.
The minister said the government has completed all necessary verification and review procedures, ensuring that the disbursal process moves ahead without major delays.
Rs 2 Lakh Assistance to Be Distributed in Five Phases
According to the minister, the scheme provides total financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh to women beneficiaries in phased installments to support self-employment and small business activities.
During the first phase, Rs 10,000 each was transferred to the accounts of around 1.81 crore women across Bihar. The amount was intended to help women begin small-scale economic activities.
Under the second phase, beneficiaries will now receive Rs 20,000. The subsequent installments will include Rs 40,000 in the third phase, Rs 60,000 in the fourth phase, and Rs 80,000 in the final phase.
Officials said the phased structure has been designed to ensure gradual expansion of self-employment ventures and sustainable income generation among women beneficiaries.
Urban Women Beneficiaries Also Included
The Rural Development Minister said nearly 18 lakh women living in urban areas have also applied under the scheme.
He stated that the verification process for these applications has been completed. Women whose applications have been approved will receive the first installment of Rs 10,000 in their bank accounts during this month.
Focus on Economic Self-Reliance
The minister said the primary objective of the scheme is to strengthen women’s economic independence through self-employment opportunities.
He noted that the initiative was launched during the tenure of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, making Bihar among the first states to introduce a large-scale employment generation scheme focused specifically on women.
The government, he said, aims not only to provide financial support but also to promote long-term self-reliance among women through entrepreneurship and livelihood opportunities.
He added that the phased financial assistance programme is currently being implemented under the leadership of Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary in a structured manner.
