Patna: Bihar State Power Transmission Company Limited (BSPTCL) on May 23 successfully charged the 132 KV Khagaul–Digha Double Circuit Transmission Line at 13:44 hrs in Patna, officials said.
The commissioning took place in the presence of Managing Director Rahul Kumar (IAS), who oversaw the execution of the project.
Project Details
The transmission line spans 17.624 km and has been developed along the western side of the AIIMS–Digha–Patlipath corridor. It comprises 51 newly constructed monopole structures and 41 existing lattice towers, according to BSPTCL.
Officials said the line has been built using High Temperature Low Sag (HTLS) conductors, designed to improve transmission efficiency and capacity.
Capacity Enhancement
Before the upgrade, the old cable system supported 75×2 MW, totalling 150 MW. With the installation of HTLS conductors, the capacity has now been increased to 160×2 MW, reaching a total of 320 MW.
BSPTCL stated that the enhancement will significantly improve power transmission capability for the region.
Boost for West Patna Supply
Managing Director Rahul Kumar said the upgraded line will strengthen electricity supply reliability in West Patna and help meet rising demand in the capital.
He also commended engineers and field teams for completing the project on schedule despite Right of Way (ROW) challenges and technical constraints.
Officials added that the project is expected to improve both stability and quality of power supply in the region as demand continues to grow.
