Muzaffarpur/Patna: Bihar agriculture minister and former deputy chief minister Vijay Kumar Sinha on Tuesday said a change in department had not altered his working style or priorities.

Speaking at the ‘Bihar Litchi Sangam’ programme organised at the National Research Centre on Litchi in Muzaffarpur, Sinha said he remained committed to addressing public concerns, particularly those related to land protection in Bihar.

“I am no longer just Vijay Sinha, I am Vijay Bihari,” he said, adding that he continued to be concerned about the interests of people across the state.

Indirect remarks on corruption

Without naming anyone, Sinha made indirect remarks about corruption within the system and suggested that departmental changes often occurred when he initiated action against irregularities.

“Whenever I begin action against wrongdoing or dishonesty, my department gets changed,” he said during his address.

Using an analogy, he said people often prepared for one subject but were tested on another, adding that those responsible for teaching were themselves involved in irregularities.

He said resistance increased once such issues began to surface.

Comments seen in political context

Sinha also suggested that some people may have believed his removal from the revenue department would reduce scrutiny, but said his nature and method of functioning would remain the same.

“Departments may change, but the intention to work for the people does not,” he said.

The remarks come amid ongoing political discussions in Bihar over administrative reshuffles and governance priorities within the ruling alliance.

Focus on land security

The agriculture minister again raised the issue of land protection and said he would continue speaking on the matter irrespective of the department assigned to him.

He said ensuring the security of land ownership for people in Bihar remained an important concern and added that his efforts to address public grievances would continue.
