Patna: The Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) has directed officials to expedite road construction and restoration work across multiple civic divisions in the city ahead of the monsoon season.
A review meeting chaired by municipal commissioner Yashpal Meena was held at the PMC headquarters on Tuesday to assess the progress of ongoing projects aimed at improving traffic movement and addressing damaged roads and waterlogging issues.
Officials said the corporation was conducting detailed fortnightly reviews of project timelines, progress and quality standards.
Deadlines fixed for pending works
During the meeting, the municipal commissioner instructed that all minor patchwork and limited restoration projects covering stretches between 25 metres and 100 metres must be completed by coming Monday.
Larger road construction and restoration projects currently under execution have been given a deadline of June 10.
Officials and contractors informed the meeting that practical difficulties were being faced at several locations, including objections from local residents over simultaneous work on multiple roads in the same area.
In view of these concerns and to maintain construction quality, the corporation approved a practical extension of 10 days for some major projects.
Parallel execution and public coordination
Meena directed engineers to ensure parallel execution of work on all identified roads to meet the revised timelines.
He also instructed executive engineers and circle officials to engage with residents and explain the importance of completing projects before the onset of monsoon rains.
According to the PMC, timely completion of the works is expected to improve urban mobility and reduce inconvenience during the rainy season.
Division-wise progress of road restoration
The civic body presented division-wise updates on the ongoing road restoration projects:
- Nutan Rajdhani division: 10.36km completed out of 21.20km

Geo-tagging and quality checks ordered
The PMC also said it was coordinating with agencies such as BUIDCO and the road construction department to avoid duplication of work under various government schemes, including the Mukhyamantri Samagra Vikas Yojana.
The municipal commissioner directed end-to-end geo-tagging of all PMC road construction and restoration projects to improve transparency and monitoring.
City engineer Bindu Rajak was instructed to conduct quality inspections of all newly constructed and restored roads to ensure durable infrastructure for residents.
