Patna: A key stakeholder meeting was held today, under the guidance of the Managing Director of Patna Smart City Limited to improve passenger amenities, traffic management, and operational discipline at the Multi-Modal Hub (MMH) located at Patna Junction.
Officials from the transport department, district administration, traffic police, and private bus operators participated in the discussion, where a detailed Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) was finalised for smoother functioning of the facility.
Parking Zoning and Traffic Flow Plan
As part of the new framework, separate parking zones will be designated for private buses to ensure organised movement and reduce congestion within the hub premises.
All government and private buses have been instructed to use only Exit Gate No. 02 for departure. Authorities have also directed that buses must not halt after exiting the hub until they reach the GPO, aiming to ensure uninterrupted traffic flow.
It has further been mandated that buses be parked at least 12 metres away from the exit gate. Officials stated that violations such as early parking or congestion near entry points will attract immediate administrative action.
Enforcement Against Noise Violations and Illegal Parking
Inspections will be carried out to check for pressure horns in buses, and penalties will be imposed under provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act where violations are found.
The meeting also decided that any illegal parking, unauthorised entry, or disruption of public order within the hub premises will be dealt with strictly, including financial penalties and legal action.
Traffic police personnel will be deployed at entry points to ensure smooth passenger movement and prevent obstruction along access routes connecting Patna Junction.
Verification Drive for Bus Operators
Private bus operators have been directed to complete verification of Aadhaar cards, driving licences, vehicle registration, and permit documents within one week.
Nodal officers have been assigned to supervise the verification process and ensure compliance within the stipulated timeline.
Coordination and Communication Measures
To improve coordination between operators and the administration, a dedicated WhatsApp group of private bus owners will be formed for real-time communication and issue resolution.
Officials said the initiative is aimed at strengthening coordination and improving response efficiency in day-to-day operations at the hub.
