Patna: The Managing Director of the Bihar Urban Infrastructure Development Corporation (BUIDCO) conducted an inspection of Catchment-1, Catchment-2, the Phulwari Sewage Treatment Plant (STP), and surrounding areas under the Patna Storm Water Drainage Project.

The inspection covered key stretches in Danapur, Khagaul and Phulwari, along with neighbourhoods near AIIMS and adjoining localities where drainage construction work is underway.

Inspection of Key Project Sites

According to officials, the Managing Director reviewed ongoing construction activities across Catchment-1 and Catchment-2.

Catchment-1 spans 31.722 km and covers several localities in Phulwari and Danapur. Catchment-2 spans 10.74 km, extending from AIIMS to Phulwari DPS.

The Managing Director also inspected the STP near Catchment-2, identified as a key discharge point for the drainage system, and reviewed connectivity works being executed at the site.

Public Feedback on Work Progress

During the visit, the Managing Director interacted with local residents present at the inspection sites and sought feedback on the pace and quality of ongoing work.

Residents reportedly said that while construction is progressing, there is a need to accelerate the pace of execution.

Officials said the feedback was noted and shared with on-ground teams for necessary action.

Directives for Monsoon Preparedness

The Managing Director instructed officials to ensure completion of all remaining works before the onset of the monsoon season.

He directed agencies to increase work speed, including extending operations into night hours where required, and setting up field camps to monitor progress.

Officials were also asked to ensure that contingency arrangements and alternative systems remain in place to avoid disruptions during rainfall.

Officials Present During Inspection

Officials from BUIDCO, along with the Project Director and Deputy Project Director, were present during the inspection. The executing agency informed the team that additional manpower and resources have been deployed to complete the remaining work on schedule.
