Patna: Patna witnessed torrential rain and strong winds on Friday morning despite the ongoing Nautapa period, traditionally regarded as the hottest phase of the summer season.
The sudden spell of adverse weather brought large parts of the city to a standstill, with reports of uprooted trees, falling branches and damage to property. The intensity of the rainfall, accompanied by winds gusting between 50 and 60 km/h, transformed daytime conditions into what many residents described as a near-night-time scene.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), weather conditions are expected to remain unsettled throughout the day. Red and Orange alerts have been issued for several districts, including Patna.
The IMD attributed the change in weather to the influence of easterly winds and rainfall systems active over Bihar. The department warned that thunderstorms, lightning and heavy rain could continue in various parts of the state.
Authorities Issue Safety Advisory
In light of the severe weather, authorities have urged residents to avoid open spaces, trees and electric poles, and to refrain from travelling unless necessary.

Farmers have also been advised not to venture into fields and to remain in safe locations until weather conditions improve.
The Meteorological Department has forecast wind speeds of 50 to 60 km/h in several areas, with stronger gusts possible at isolated locations.
Administration on High Alert
District administrations have been directed to remain vigilant and prepared to respond to any weather-related emergencies.
Initial reports indicate that several incidents of tree falls and structural damage have occurred across Patna. Some houses and walls have reportedly suffered damage due to strong winds.
Local officials have been instructed to remain on high alert. The Patna Municipal Corporation has deployed teams to clear uprooted trees and restore normalcy in affected areas, including Bailey Road, Harding Road and other parts of the city.
Authorities continue to monitor the situation as stormy weather conditions persist across Bihar.
