Bhagalpur/Patna: Actor Sushmita Sahela from Bhagalpur is set to appear in the lead role in SAB TV’s new fiction drama Hui Gum Yaadein, scheduled to air from Monday at 8 pm.
In the series, she plays the character of Babli, a young woman from a middle-class family whose life forms a central part of the narrative.
Story explores relationships and social issues
Speaking ahead of the programme’s launch, Sushmita said the show combines themes of relationships, emotions and social issues.
According to the actor, the storyline also features a doctor with an ability to understand and analyse human behaviour, with the narrative unfolding through a series of emotional and unexpected developments.
Focus on social awareness
The series also stars actor Krishna Bharadwaj as Sattu.
The story follows developments after the marriage of Babli and Sattu, with the narrative exploring the challenges faced by the characters due to social prejudices and superstitions. The makers say the show seeks to encourage awareness around such issues through its storyline.
Ensemble cast joins the production
Produced under the banner of Sobo Films Holding Limited, the drama features a wider cast that includes Iqbal Khan, Gulki Joshi, Srishti Singh and Avin Tyagi in key roles.
The production team expects the series to combine entertainment with socially relevant themes.
Recognition for earlier film work
Sushmita previously appeared in the feature film Navras Katha Collage, in which she played a lead role.
According to the actor, the film received recognition at multiple national and international film festivals, including honours at the Rajasthan International Film Festival and the Himachal Film Festival.
Journey from Bhagalpur to television
A native of Surkhikal in Bhagalpur district, Sushmita completed her schooling at Mount Carmel School in Bhagalpur.
She later secured an All India Rank of 108 in the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) entrance examination and studied fashion design in Bengaluru. After working as a fashion designer in Mumbai, she moved into acting.
Career in television and films
Sushmita began her acting career with the short film Do Tarfa and later appeared in the television serial Mere Sai, where she played the character Gauri.
She was also seen in the television drama Katha Ankahee. With Hui Gum Yaadein, she returns to television in a lead role as the new series prepares for its debut.
