Madhubani: A Bihar minister has alleged that an attempt was made on his life during a visit to a bereaved family in Madhubani district on Sunday, triggering a police investigation into the incident.
Arun Shankar Prasad, Bihar’s Labour Resources, Family Welfare and Skill Development Minister and MLA from Khajauli, claimed he was attacked while visiting Thahar village under Khajauli police station limits to offer condolences to the family of a youth who recently died in a road accident.
Minister Was Visiting Accident Victim’s Family
According to local sources, Krishna Kumar Thakur, son of Juge Thakur of Thahar village, was killed in a road accident. The minister had travelled to the village to meet the victim’s family and express his condolences.
Large Crowd Gathered at the Spot
Harishchandra Sharma, a representative of the minister, alleged that a crowd of around 300 to 400 men and women assembled shortly after the minister arrived in the village.
He claimed several people in the crowd were carrying sticks and other objects and suddenly began attacking the minister.
According to Sharma, some individuals allegedly attempted to grab and choke the minister, while others tried to assault him using cloth and sticks.
Vehicle Damaged During Chaos
The minister’s vehicle was also reportedly damaged during the incident. Eyewitnesses said the situation quickly turned chaotic as security personnel and supporters accompanying the minister rushed to shield him.
