Patna: Mokama MLA Anant Kumar Singh narrowly escaped injury after vehicles in his convoy collided on the Mokama-Patna four-lane near Sabnima village in Patna district on Thursday night, police said.
The incident occurred when a tractor-trolley travelling towards Bakhtiyarpur reportedly stopped abruptly on the highway, forcing the vehicles behind it to brake suddenly.
According to police, the sudden braking led to multiple vehicles in the MLA’s convoy crashing into each other.
Minor injuries, three vehicles damaged
Some supporters travelling in the convoy sustained minor injuries in the collision. No fatalities have been reported.
At least three vehicles were damaged in the incident, officials said.
Anant Singh was returning to Patna after attending a tilak ceremony in Badpur village in his assembly constituency when the accident took place.
Police begin inquiry
Police reached the spot soon after receiving information and have begun an investigation into the incident.
Additional station house officer Mrityunjay Kumar said the collision involved several vehicles in the MLA’s convoy near Sabnima village.
“There is no information of any casualty so far. The matter is being investigated,” he said.
