Stating that the Bureau has been getting convictions, DG said that earlier the average number of convictions achieved in 5.6 cases per year in the past 25 years whereas the number of convictions jumped to 30 last year (2025), he said exuding confidence that the number of convictions will be higher as convictions in 10 cases have been achieved, so far, this year.

The increase in number of convictions has been possible because of better monitoring, supervision and coordination between courts and prosecution besides identifying 100 out 120 cases for speeding up the trial, Gangwar told reporters here at a press conference held Vigilance office here.

He highlighted VIB’s achievements that it could achieve after the bifurcation in the year 2000 when Jharkhand was carved out of Bihar.

Development Commissioner Mihir Kumar Singh & Gangwar- who was accompanied by Vigilance IG Garima Malik, DIGs Rakesh Ranjan & Mrityunjay Kumar- jointly gave away certificate of appreciation to children of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Bailey Road, Patna who participated at painting and slogan competition.

Singh and Gangwar also gave away certificates to Vigilance staff for participating in a lecture on combating the menace of corruption.

These functions are being organised as part of ‘Bihar Vigilance Awareness Day’ observed on July 2 and ‘Bihar Vigilance Awareness Week’ (July 2-8) which will come to an end on July 8.

MORE POLICE STATION REQUIRED AT DIST LEVEL

Bureau has only one police station which is located in Patna, DG said while urging the government to set up at least a Vigilance Police Station or an Outpost (OP) at each district, Gangwar said adding that Vigilance office be opened at regional level such as Commissionery level.
