Sasaram/Patna: A 30-year-old tourist from Kerala was found dead outside the main entrance of Pilot Baba Dham in Bihar’s Rohtas district, police said on Tuesday.
The body was discovered near the entrance to the shrine, following which local residents alerted the Mufassil police station. Police reached the spot, took custody of the body and sent it for post-mortem examination.
Deceased Identified As Kerala Resident
Police identified the deceased as Abhijit KD, son of Mohan KD, a resident of Ernakulam district in Kerala.
According to Mufassil Station House Officer Rajiv Ranjan Singh and SDPO-2 Sanjeev Kumar, preliminary findings indicate that the death appears to be a case of suicide. Officials said the exact cause of death will be confirmed after the investigation and post-mortem report.
CCTV Footage Under Examination
Police said CCTV footage from cameras installed outside Pilot Baba Dham showed the man arriving at the site on Monday night.
SDPO-2 Sanjeev Kumar said preliminary evidence suggests the man died by hanging from a bamboo structure outside a shop near the shrine at around 10 pm on Monday.
“The deceased was a tourist from Kerala. We are investigating every aspect of the case and questioning local residents,” Kumar said.
Investigation Continues
Police said they are examining the circumstances leading to the incident and have informed the deceased’s family.
Further action will be taken based on the post-mortem findings and the outcome of the investigation.
