Hyderabad/Rajgir: Professor Sachin Chaturvedi, Vice Chancellor of Nalanda University, participated in The Heart of a Jain book launch and International Conclave at Kanha Shanti Vanam in Hyderabad, where he spoke on the relevance of Jain philosophy in addressing contemporary global challenges.
During the event, Professor Chaturvedi met Revered Daaji (Shri Kamlesh D. Patel), President of Heartfulness, and held discussions on Indian knowledge systems, human values and sustainable development.
Jain Philosophy And Contemporary Challenges
In his special address, Professor Chaturvedi highlighted the enduring significance of Jain philosophy in promoting ethical leadership, sustainability, non-violence and human well-being.
Referring to The Heart of a Jain, he said the book offers insights into the teachings of Bhagwan Rishabh Dev and demonstrates their continued relevance in addressing the social and environmental challenges of the modern world.
Centre For Jain Studies Proposed
The Vice Chancellor also outlined Nalanda University’s proposal to establish a Centre for Jain Studies.
He said the proposed centre would support interdisciplinary research and strengthen global academic engagement with India’s intellectual and philosophical traditions.
According to the university, the initiative reflects its broader commitment to advancing the study of Indian knowledge systems.

Visit To Heartfulness Campus
During his visit, Professor Chaturvedi participated in a Heartfulness meditation session in the presence of Revered Daaji and interacted with members of the Heartfulness community.
He also visited the Heartfulness Seed Science Laboratory, where he reviewed initiatives focused on conserving native plant species, expanding indigenous tree plantations and promoting ecological restoration to enhance biodiversity.
Exploring Future Collaboration
The visit also provided an opportunity for Nalanda University and Heartfulness to explore potential collaboration in areas including Indian knowledge systems, sustainability, environmental stewardship and holistic human well-being.
University officials said the discussions were aimed at strengthening academic and institutional cooperation in these fields.
