Sheohar/Patna: Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary on Sunday inaugurated the Minapur–Belwaghat Link Channel in Piprahi block, a project built at a cost of Rs. 130.88 crore. During the visit, he also inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for 40 development projects worth nearly Rs. 200 crore across different departments.
The visit marked Choudhary’s first official tour of Sheohar after assuming office as chief minister.
Link Channel Inaugurated
The chief minister arrived at the Belwaghat helipad by helicopter at around 11am, where he was accorded a guard of honour. He was welcomed by public representatives and district officials before inaugurating the Minapur–Belwaghat Link Channel.
He later viewed a presentation on the project and reviewed its key features.
Development Projects Across Departments
Besides inaugurating the link channel, Choudhary launched and laid the foundation stones for 40 development schemes valued at nearly Rs. 200 crore.
He also visited exhibition stalls set up by various government departments and reviewed information on welfare and development initiatives being implemented in the district.
Tight Security Arrangements
The district administration made elaborate security arrangements for the chief minister’s visit. A five-kilometre radius around Belwaghat was declared a no-fly zone, while security personnel were deployed along the Belwaghat–Piprahi route.
Additional police forces and magistrates were stationed to manage crowds and maintain law and order during the programme.
Preparations Reviewed In Advance
Ahead of the visit, social welfare minister Dr Shweta Gupta, district magistrate Pratibha Rani, superintendent of police Shailendra Singh and other officials inspected the venue to review preparations. The administration said all arrangements had been completed before the event.
