Patna: A 29-year-old man has been arrested from Jaipur, Rajasthan, for allegedly sending an email threatening to blow up the Police Headquarters, Patna High Court and Civil Court in Patna, police said.
The threatening email was received on the official email address of the Police Headquarters on July 12. Officials said the message contained objectionable language and threatened attacks on key government and judicial institutions in the city.
Special Investigation Team Formed
Given the seriousness of the threat, senior police officials constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to identify and apprehend the sender.
The investigation was carried out under the supervision of the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Patna, and the City Superintendent of Police (City SP), Patna. The team included the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (Secretariat-02), along with cyber teams from the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), Patna, and the Economic Offences Unit (EOU).
Accused Arrested in Jaipur
Based on technical evidence gathered during the investigation, the police traced the accused to Jaipur and conducted a raid, leading to his arrest.
The accused has been identified as Anish Kumar Verma (29), a resident of Maheshwari Kunj, Flat No. 205, Road No. 6, East Patel Nagar, under the jurisdiction of Shastri Nagar police station in Patna.
Mobile Phone Seized
Police said they have seized the mobile phone allegedly used by the accused to send the threatening email.
Further investigation is underway to determine the motive behind the email and whether any additional individuals were involved, police said.
