Patna: Opposition leaders and MLAs belonging to the Mahagathbandhan staged a protest inside the Bihar Legislative Assembly complex on Thursday ahead of the monsoon session, raising concerns over alleged irregularities in competitive examinations, including NEET, and the alleged police lathi-charge on protesting students.

The protesters raised slogans against the state government and demanded that competitive examinations be conducted in a fair and transparent manner. They also sought strict action against those accused in paper leak cases.

Opposition Raises Concerns Over Examination Irregularities

During the demonstration, opposition leaders alleged that repeated irregularities in the examination system were affecting the future of young aspirants. They accused the government of failing to curb paper leaks and claimed that students protesting against these issues were being silenced instead of receiving justice.

The opposition also criticised the alleged use of force against protesting students, describing it as an infringement of democratic rights. They demanded accountability and action against those responsible.

Placards and Slogans Mark Protest

The protest saw opposition MLAs carrying placards and raising slogans against the government. They called for reforms to strengthen the examination system, prevent paper leaks, and ensure the safety and rights of students participating in peaceful demonstrations.

Issues Likely to Be Raised Inside the House

After protesting for some time in the Assembly complex, opposition members entered the Assembly building to participate in the day’s proceedings.

Opposition leaders indicated that they would continue to raise the issues of examination irregularities, paper leaks and the alleged lathi-charge on students during the Assembly session.
