Patna: Senior IAS officer Divesh Sehra has moved to the Central Government on deputation and has been appointed Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Finance, marking a new phase in the career of the 2005-batch Bihar cadre officer.
Following the notification issued by the Bihar Home Department, Sehra has been relieved of his responsibilities under the state government to take up his new assignment at the Centre.
From Bihar Administration To The Centre
Before his central deputation, Sehra was serving as Secretary of Bihar’s Food and Consumer Protection Department.
The officer has held several key positions in the Bihar administration, with experience across different departments. His move to the Centre brings that administrative experience to a Union ministry handling major financial and policy matters.
Earlier Served As Sports Secretary
Sehra had earlier served as Secretary of Bihar’s Sports Department. During a subsequent administrative reshuffle, he was moved from the Sports Department and assigned responsibility for the Food and Consumer Protection Department.
His latest transfer to the Centre ends his current role in the Bihar government and clears the way for him to assume charge in the Finance Ministry.
New Role In Finance Ministry
As Joint Secretary, Sehra will be responsible for administrative and policy-related work within the Finance Ministry.
Central deputation allows experienced officers from state cadres to contribute to the functioning of Union ministries and departments. Sehra’s appointment places a Bihar cadre officer in a senior role at the Centre after years of service in the state administration.
