Patna: North Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited (NBPDCL) has provided 72 Smart TVs to residential girls’ schools run by the Backward Class and Extremely Backward Class Welfare Department of the Bihar government under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme.
The initiative, approved at NBPDCL’s 158th Board Meeting on March 16, 2026, involves an expenditure of Rs 54 lakh for the financial year 2025–26.
Smart TVs Distributed Across 12 Districts
The Smart TVs will be installed at Backward Class Residential Girls’ Senior Secondary (10+2) Schools across 12 districts of Bihar.
The beneficiary districts are Araria, Purnia, Samastipur, Siwan, Gopalganj, Darbhanga, Kishanganj, Saharsa, Supaul, Khagaria, Madhepura and Begusarai.
Each school has received six Smart TVs, taking the total number of devices distributed under the initiative to 72.
Focus On Digital Learning
NBPDCL Managing Director Rahul Kumar said the company’s CSR programme focuses on education, digital empowerment and social development, alongside its core responsibility of providing reliable power supply.
He said the initiative is intended to provide better educational facilities and opportunities to students from underprivileged sections of society.
The Smart TVs are expected to support technology-enabled learning in the residential schools and improve students’ access to digital educational resources.
Board Approved CSR Initiative
The initiative was undertaken following a recommendation from NBPDCL’s CSR Committee and subsequent approval by the company’s Board at its March 16 meeting.
The distribution is part of NBPDCL’s CSR activities for 2025–26 and is aimed at strengthening digital learning infrastructure in government residential schools for girls across Bihar.
