Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary on July 28 reviewed major projects identified under the Bihar Gati initiative and Centrally Sponsored Schemes, directing officials to remove bottlenecks and complete projects within stipulated timelines.
The review, held at the Sankalp auditorium at Lok Sevak Awas, covered projects worth more than Rs 100 crore across the Water Resources, Road Construction and Health departments.
Choudhary directed officials to maintain quality while ensuring that projects are completed within schedule. He also stressed regular monitoring and the prompt resolution of administrative and implementation-related hurdles.
Water Projects Under Review
During the review of the Water Resources Department, Choudhary directed officials to accelerate work on the Kosi-Mechi Inter-State Link project after the monsoon season.
He called for better coordination among the agencies involved and instructed officials to address impediments through regular reviews.
The chief minister also directed officials to expedite the North Koel Reservoir Project to increase irrigation capacity and enable farmers to benefit from the project at the earliest.
Officials were further instructed to regularly monitor the Manda Weir Project and ensure its completion within the stipulated timeframe.
Road Connectivity Projects
The chief minister directed the Road Construction Department to speed up work on the Varanasi-Ranchi-Kolkata six-lane corridor, Amas-Darbhanga four-lane project and Kanhauli-Sherpur (NH-131G) six-lane project.
He instructed officials to resolve issues related to land acquisition, Forest Department clearances and other administrative hurdles without delay.
Choudhary said timely completion of the projects would strengthen road connectivity, improve transportation and support economic and industrial activity in the state.
Focus On TB-Free Bihar Campaign
The Health Department’s projects and programmes were also reviewed, with the chief minister directing officials to strengthen the TB-Free India campaign in Bihar.
He called for extensive screening and testing to identify potential TB patients at an early stage, particularly in areas reporting a higher prevalence of the disease.
The chief minister directed officials to ensure that all TB centres are fully operational and that non-functional centres are restarted.
He also called for awareness campaigns covering every block, panchayat and village, along with greater use of health camps and mobile screening units.
The special campaign to make Bihar TB-free, scheduled from July 2 to August 14, 2026, should be implemented with public participation, he said. Officials were also directed to ensure timely treatment, nutritional support and essential medicines for TB patients.
Rs 2,000-Crore CSR Target
Choudhary also directed the state government to set a target of mobilising Rs 2,000 crore through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives and prepare an action plan to achieve it.
He called for stronger coordination with industries and corporate entities to channel CSR funds towards education, health, skill development, sports, women’s empowerment and other public welfare initiatives.
The chief minister said greater cooperation between the government and private sector could contribute to Bihar’s development.
