Patna: Bihar has taken a significant step towards expanding its industrial base with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for a Rs 6,000 crore integrated steel plant in Gaya. The agreement was signed between the Department of Industries and the Mahashakti Group for the proposed project, which is expected to have an annual production capacity of 1.0 to 1.5 million tonnes (MTPA).
According to the state government, the project is expected to strengthen Bihar’s manufacturing sector while creating new employment opportunities and encouraging industrial investment.
Project Details
The proposed integrated steel plant will be developed in Gaya with an estimated investment of Rs 6,000 crore. Once operational, it is expected to produce between 1.0 and 1.5 million tonnes of steel annually, making it one of the state’s major industrial projects.
Officials said the investment reflects growing interest from private industry in Bihar’s manufacturing sector.
Expected Economic Impact
According to the Industries Department, the project is expected to generate substantial direct and indirect employment while promoting ancillary industries and small businesses linked to the steel sector.
The government believes the investment will strengthen the regional economy and contribute to Bihar’s long-term industrial development.

Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary said the Bihar government is working to create an industry-friendly environment by providing improved infrastructure, transparent policies and timely administrative support.
He said these measures are helping attract large-scale investments across different sectors and are expected to accelerate industrial growth in the state.

According to the Chief Minister, the steel plant is expected to create extensive employment opportunities for local residents during both the construction and operational phases.
He said the project would also support businesses associated with logistics, engineering, manufacturing and other ancillary services.

Samrat Choudhary expressed confidence that the project would move forward within the stipulated timeline through the coordinated efforts of the Bihar Industrial Area Development Authority (BIADA), the Department of Industries and the Mahashakti Group. The government expects the project to strengthen Bihar’s industrial ecosystem and attract further investments in the coming years.
