Patna: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for thunderstorms and lightning across Bihar on Sunday, August 2, warning that weather conditions are likely to deteriorate in all 38 districts of the state.
According to the forecast, north and east Bihar are expected to receive the heaviest rainfall, while monsoon activity is likely to remain subdued across much of south Bihar.
Heavy Rain Warning For Four Districts
The Meteorological Centre in Patna has issued a heavy rainfall warning for Madhubani, Supaul, Araria and Kishanganj over the next 24 hours.
The department said districts along the Nepal border are likely to experience intense rainfall as weather systems strengthen over the region.
Thunderstorms, Lightning And Strong Winds Expected
The IMD has forecast thunderstorms accompanied by lightning across north-west, south-west, south-central and south-east Bihar on Sunday.
Wind speeds could reach up to 40 kmph, and residents have been advised to remain indoors during thunderstorms and avoid open areas due to the risk of lightning strikes.

Heat And Humidity Persist As Monsoon Weakens
Despite the rain forecast, large parts of Bihar experienced hot and humid conditions on Saturday as monsoon activity remained weak.
Kaimur recorded the state’s highest maximum temperature at 39.1°C, while temperatures exceeded 35°C in Sheikhpura, Aurangabad, Rohtas, Gaya, Nalanda, Bhagalpur and Motihari.
Patna, Chhapra and Arwal also recorded daytime temperatures of around 35°C.
Weather officials attributed the rise in temperatures to sluggish monsoon conditions and said mercury levels are expected to fall once widespread rainfall resumes.
Patna Forecast
For Patna, the IMD has forecast cloudy skies throughout Sunday.
While heavy rainfall is not expected in the capital, light rain or drizzle may occur at isolated places. The maximum temperature is likely to remain around 34°C.
