Patna: The Economic Offences Unit (EOU) has arrested three people in connection with the alleged leak of the Havildar Instructor recruitment examination conducted by the Bihar Police Subordinate Services Commission (BPSSC) for the Home Guard cadre.
The accused have been remanded to judicial custody as the EOU continues to investigate what it describes as a broader examination malpractice network.
Three Accused Sent To Jail
The arrested individuals have been identified as Raj Samdarshi (alias Raja), 25, of Bikram in Patna; Abhishek Kumar, 21, of Hajipur; and Nitesh Kumar, 28, from the Nagar police station area of Vaishali district.
According to investigators, Nitesh Kumar was deployed as a biometric supervisor during the examination and allegedly played a key role in the cheating operation.
Supervisor Allegedly Shared Answers
The EOU alleges that Nitesh Kumar prepared answers on his mobile phone during the examination and passed them to Raj Samdarshi.
Raj Samdarshi was arrested near a school in Hajipur on July 29. During questioning, he allegedly admitted to using unfair means in the examination and identified Abhishek Kumar as an accomplice.
Investigators said they recovered photographs of multiple admit cards and answer sheets from the mobile phones of Raj Samdarshi and Abhishek Kumar. According to the EOU, the images had been transmitted at 12.21 pm during the examination.
Probe Expands
During interrogation, Raj Samdarshi allegedly told investigators that he had also used unfair means in the AEDO recruitment examination held in April 2026.
He further claimed that answers for the Havildar Instructor examination had reached him through the biometric supervisor.
Following these disclosures, the EOU registered a fresh FIR on July 30, naming four additional accused alongside the three already arrested.
Wider Network Under Investigation
The Havildar Instructor recruitment examination for the Bihar Police Home Guard cadre was conducted across the state on July 29.
A case has been registered at Hajipur Nagar police station, while the EOU has launched a detailed investigation into the alleged examination fraud.
Officials said efforts are underway to identify other individuals who may have been involved in the network, adding that further legal action would be taken if additional evidence emerges.
