Patna: Road connectivity in central Patna is set to receive a major boost, with the approach roads and service roads connecting the under-construction Mithapur flyover to the Chiraiyatand flyover via Karbigahiya expected to be completed within the next week.
Road Construction Minister Kumar Shailendra inspected the project site on Tuesday, reviewed its progress with officials and directed the executing agencies to complete the remaining work within the stipulated timeframe while maintaining construction quality.
Work In Final Phase
During the inspection, the minister reviewed the progress of the approach roads, service roads, construction quality, safety measures and the project’s completion schedule.
Senior officials of the Bihar State Bridge Construction Corporation Limited (BSBCCL), engineers associated with the project and representatives of the executing agency briefed him on the technical progress and the remaining work.
Officials informed the minister that the project has received revised administrative approval of Rs 292.74 crore.
Target Set For August 10
According to officials, Phase I of the project is targeted for completion by August 10.
The phase includes:
- The stretch from Mithapur Roundabout to the newly constructed Karbigahiya Roundabout
- The road connecting Karbigahiya Roundabout to Mithapur Bus Stand
- The link connecting the new road to the Mithapur–Mahuli flyover
The minister instructed officials to ensure that all remaining works are completed on schedule without compromising quality.

Relief For Patna Traffic
Shailendra described the project as one of the capital’s key transport infrastructure initiatives, saying it is expected to ease long-standing congestion around the busy Mithapur Roundabout.
Once operational, the new flyover connection is expected to improve traffic movement between R-Block, GPO Roundabout, Mithapur Roundabout, Karbigahiya Railway Station, and the Kankarbagh area.
The project will also strengthen connectivity between central Patna and the NH-31 bypass, providing a smoother route for commuters and reducing travel time across one of the city’s busiest traffic corridors.
