Patna: Bihar government school students will be able to access online academic support from teachers until 11 PM from August 15, Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary announced at the AAGAAZ 2026 event at LNMI, Patna.
The initiative, called Bihar School Live Classes, is part of the state government’s efforts to expand digital learning in government schools.
Teachers To Provide Online Academic Support
Under the new arrangement, students will be able to seek help with subjects and academic questions outside regular school hours.
The extended online support is expected to benefit students who study in the evening or face difficulty accessing subject-specific guidance after school hours.
The initiative could also help students in rural and remote areas where access to teachers for particular subjects or additional academic support may be limited.
Focus On Digital Education
Choudhary said the government is working to strengthen digital education alongside classroom teaching in state-run schools.
The online classes are intended to give students access to learning resources from home and support their preparation for school examinations, higher education and competitive examinations.
The effectiveness of the programme will depend on its implementation, including students’ access to devices, internet connectivity and the availability of teachers across subjects.
551 Model Schools To Get Modern Facilities
During the event, Choudhary also highlighted the state’s 551 model schools, which were launched across Bihar on July 19.
The government plans to equip these schools with technology-based educational facilities, including smart classrooms, computer labs and e-libraries.
Smart classrooms are expected to support audio-visual and digital learning, while computer laboratories will provide students with practical exposure to technology. E-libraries will provide access to digital books and other study materials.
The facilities are expected to be particularly relevant for students in Classes 9 to 12, who prepare for board examinations while also planning for higher education and competitive examinations.
Focus On Students In Rural Areas
The expansion of online learning is aimed at addressing some of the academic gaps faced by students who have limited access to supplementary coaching or subject-specific teachers.
If implemented effectively, the extended online support could allow students to seek academic guidance beyond regular school hours while encouraging greater use of digital learning resources.
The government has positioned the online classes and model schools as part of a broader effort to modernise education in Bihar’s government schools.
