Patna: More than 1.6 lakh candidates have qualified for Bihar’s D.El.Ed entrance examination, setting up intense competition for the 30,700 seats available for the two-year teacher-training programme in the 2026-28 session.
With roughly five times as many candidates qualifying as there are seats, about six candidates will compete for each available seat across government and private institutions in the state.
The Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) has directed candidates to complete the admission application process online by August 16, including payment of the required fee and submission of college preferences.
30,700 Seats Across 306 Colleges
Admissions will be based on a merit list prepared from candidates’ entrance examination scores.
The available seats are spread across:
- 60 government colleges: 9,100 seats
- 246 private colleges: 21,650 seats
Admissions will follow the state’s reservation rules, along with provisions for government-allocated Urdu seats and seats in Arts, Commerce and Science streams.
Candidates will also be allotted institutions based on the preferences they submit during the application process.
The BSEB has instructed that the merit list for private colleges will be released only after seats in government colleges have been filled.
Exam Conducted Online
The D.El.Ed entrance examination was conducted through the Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode from July 8 to July 22.
Candidates from the unreserved category needed at least 35% marks to qualify, while the minimum qualifying mark for reserved-category candidates was 30%.
Applications Open Until August 16
Qualified candidates can submit their applications online until August 16.
For the Common Application Form, candidates will use their roll number as the login ID and date of birth as the password. They must also select their preferred training institutions during the application process.
The BSEB has instructed all participating training institutions to remain open on Sundays during the admission period to facilitate the process.
Muzaffarpur Has 19 Colleges
In Muzaffarpur district, the two-year D.El.Ed programme will be offered at four government and 15 private colleges.
Government institutions have different seat capacities, with some offering 200 seats and others 150.
For private institutions, the fee for the complete two-year course has been capped at Rs 1.20 lakh. Colleges will not be permitted to charge more than the prescribed amount.
