Patna: Public transport in Patna is set for a gradual shift towards electric mobility, with the Bihar State Road Transport Corporation (BSRTC) beginning operations of a new fleet of electric buses in the capital.
Around 12 to 15 new e-buses have arrived in Patna, with about seven to eight already operating on city routes. The remaining buses are expected to be deployed in the coming days.
The new buses are currently operating on key stretches of the capital, including Bailey Road, providing another option for passengers who depend on public transport for their daily commute.
Focus On Accessibility
The new service has been designed with particular attention to the needs of women and passengers with disabilities.
According to the information provided, passenger-friendly facilities have been incorporated into the buses to make journeys more convenient and accessible.

Service To Expand Beyond Patna
BSRTC plans to extend electric bus services to other districts of Bihar.
Officials said operations in other cities will begin once the necessary No Objection Certificates (NOCs) have been obtained.
The expansion would allow passengers outside Patna to access the new electric public transport network, although the timing and routes for deployment in other districts have not yet been specified.
For now, the focus remains on putting the remaining new buses into service in Patna and strengthening the capital’s electric bus network.
