Patna: Passengers travelling between Bhagalpur in Bihar and Ahmedabad in Gujarat are set to get a new direct rail connectivity option. The Railways will operate the Ahmedabad-Bhagalpur-Ahmedabad Weekly Amrit Bharat Express from August 26.
The service will operate under train numbers 19423 and 19424 and will connect several important cities across Gujarat, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. The train will have General Unreserved and Sleeper Class coaches and will operate at speeds of up to around 130 kmph.
Ticket Booking to Begin on August 21
Passengers planning to travel on the new service will be able to book tickets from August 21. Tickets can be booked through railway Passenger Reservation System (PRS) counters and IRCTC.
The Ahmedabad-Bhagalpur journey will take approximately 36 hours and 10 minutes, while the return journey will take around 36 hours and 40 minutes.
Ahmedabad-Bhagalpur Train to Run Every Wednesday
Train No. 19423 Ahmedabad-Bhagalpur Amrit Bharat Express will depart from Ahmedabad every Wednesday.
The first service will leave Ahmedabad on August 26 at 6:30 PM and reach Bhagalpur at 6:40 AM on Friday, completing the journey in approximately 36 hours and 10 minutes.
The weekly service is expected to benefit passengers travelling between Gujarat and Bihar for employment, education, business and other purposes.
Bhagalpur-Ahmedabad Train to Run Every Friday
The return service, Train No. 19424 Bhagalpur-Ahmedabad Amrit Bharat Express, will begin from Bhagalpur on August 28.
The train will depart from Bhagalpur every Friday at 4:45 PM and reach Ahmedabad at approximately 5:25 AM on Saturday. The total journey time will be around 36 hours and 40 minutes.

Why the Train Is Important for Bhagalpur Passengers
Bhagalpur, popularly known as Bihar’s Silk City, has strong commercial and employment links with Gujarat and other industrial regions. Many residents travel to Ahmedabad and surrounding areas for work, business and trade.
The new weekly Amrit Bharat Express will provide an additional direct travel option for passengers from Bhagalpur and nearby areas. It will also connect the city with major centres such as Patna, Ara, Buxar, Prayagraj, Kota and Ahmedabad.
Existing Ahmedabad-Patna Special Train to Be Regularised
The Railways has also decided to regularise the existing Ahmedabad-Patna-Ahmedabad special train service.
The service operating under train numbers 09447/09448 will be regularised and operated as the 19423/19424 Ahmedabad-Bhagalpur-Ahmedabad Weekly Amrit Bharat Express.
