Patna: The monsoon remains active in Bihar, with the Meteorological Centre issuing a yellow alert for rain in 27 districts on Thursday. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are also possible in these areas, while winds may reach speeds of up to 40 kmph.

According to the weather department, Bihar is likely to experience variable weather conditions over the next two to three days, with some parts of the state potentially receiving heavy rainfall.

Rain was recorded in Patna and Khagaria during the past 24 hours. Meanwhile, the rising water level of the Ganga has raised concerns in several flood-prone areas.

In Begusarai district, areas including Bhavanandpur, Parmanandpur and Bhagatpur in Ballia block have been affected by flooding as the Ganga continues to rise. The river has also entered the diara areas of Bhagalpur, resulting in flood-like conditions in several low-lying areas.

Rainfall pattern not completely over

Weather experts said the rainfall pattern in Bihar has not completely ended. Localised cloud formation and high moisture levels could bring light rain to several districts over the next one to two days.

However, this does not mean that the entire state will receive heavy rainfall simultaneously. Farmers and residents have been advised to keep track of local weather updates.

People should avoid open fields, electric poles and large trees during thunderstorms and lightning.

Bihar weather forecast for Raksha Bandhan

On August 28, Raksha Bandhan, weather conditions in Bihar are also unlikely to remain completely clear. Several parts of the state may witness cloudy skies, while some areas could receive light rainfall.

Patna weather today

Patna is likely to remain cloudy on Thursday, with a possibility of light rain. Rainfall could bring a slight drop in temperatures and provide relief from the prevailing heat.

The weather in Patna and adjoining areas is expected to remain unsettled for the next two days.

Bihar records 42% rainfall deficit

Despite the ongoing monsoon activity, Bihar has recorded significantly less rainfall than normal this season. As of August 26, the state should have received around 741.2 mm of rainfall, but only 428.6 mm has been recorded.

This represents a rainfall deficit of around 42%. The shortfall in rainfall is also affecting agricultural activities across the state.
