Darbhanga: SpiceJet flight SG-115 from Mumbai to Darbhanga was delayed by nearly two hours after an elderly woman fell ill shortly before take-off.
According to passengers quoted in the report, the woman was seated in 1-F and began feeling unwell after boarding the aircraft. Her blood sugar level reportedly dropped.
A medical team was called to the aircraft to examine her. After an initial assessment, doctors advised that she should not travel on the same flight as her condition had not stabilised.
Woman Deboarded After Medical Assessment
The aircraft was held while the medical team examined the passenger. She was subsequently deboarded and given the required medical assistance.
The woman was kept at the airport under the supervision of the medical team after completing the initial medical procedure.
Passenger Ram Kumari Devi, who was travelling on the same aircraft, said she witnessed the elderly woman becoming unwell after boarding. She said a medical team was then called to the aircraft.
Cabin Head Promises Alternative Flight
According to the eyewitness, the medical team advised that the woman should travel on another flight. The aircraft’s cabin head, Mahesh, reportedly told passengers that the airline would arrange a ticket for her on the next flight at no additional cost.
The process of examining and deboarding the passenger resulted in a delay of nearly two hours. Some passengers reportedly protested over the delay and urged the airline to depart as soon as possible.
The situation was later brought under control, and SG-115 eventually departed Mumbai for Darbhanga. Passengers said the aircraft reached Darbhanga safely.

A passenger recorded a video during the incident showing the elderly woman inside the aircraft and the medical team attending to her.
The video also shows passengers gathered inside the aircraft while the medical team carried out the examination.
SpiceJet Flight From Delhi Cancelled
The incident came amid further disruption to SpiceJet’s Darbhanga services. The airline’s SG-495 flight from Delhi to Darbhanga was cancelled on Monday, with its scheduled arrival time listed as 3.20pm.
The previous day, SpiceJet’s SG-495 from Delhi to Darbhanga and SG-496 from Darbhanga to Delhi were also cancelled, according to the report. Flights between Mumbai and Darbhanga operated by SpiceJet were also reported to have faced cancellations.
On Sunday, Akasa operated one flight each to Delhi and back, while another pair of flights operated to Bengaluru. IndiGo also operated flights from Darbhanga to Mumbai and Hyderabad.
Passenger Raises Concerns Over Repeated Cancellations
Mumbai-bound passenger Jagjeet Chaudhary criticised the repeated cancellation of SpiceJet flights and said the disruptions were causing difficulties for travellers.
Chaudhary said passengers were sometimes informed about cancellations at the last minute despite having booked their tickets in advance, affecting their onward travel plans.
Passengers said airlines should provide timely information when flights are cancelled because of technical or operational reasons and make alternative travel arrangements where possible.
