Patna: Visitors to Patna Zoo are expected to have more convenient food options by the end of this year, with two food kiosks planned within the zoo premises.
One kiosk will be located near Gate No. 1 and the other near Gate No. 2. The facilities are expected to serve snacks, ready-to-eat packaged items and freshly cooked meals.
The new kiosks are intended to make food and refreshments more accessible to visitors while they explore the zoo, particularly those who do not visit the lakeside restaurant.
Tender Process Underway
According to the zoo management, the tendering process for the two kiosks is expected to be completed by next month. The selected vendor will then be awarded the work.
The vendor is expected to get about one month to establish the kiosks. If the process proceeds as planned, both facilities are expected to become operational by December.
Mayur Restaurant Currently Main Food Option
At present, Mayur Restaurant, located near the lake, is the main dining facility inside Patna Zoo. Visitors can have food and beverages while sitting on its lawn overlooking the lake.
However, visitors in other sections of the zoo have limited options for meals and refreshments. The proposed kiosks are expected to address this gap by providing food closer to the entry points.
Only Vegetarian Food Allowed
The kiosks will serve only vegetarian food. The zoo management has prohibited meat, fish, chicken, eggs and other non-vegetarian items.
As per the proposed guidelines, food at the kiosks will also have to be prepared exclusively using induction cooktops. The combination of cooked meals, snacks and packaged food is expected to provide visitors with options for breakfast, lunch and refreshments during their visit.
