West Champaran/Patna: Government schools in West Champaran are adopting a more practical and technology-driven approach to education, with students increasingly learning through models, experiments, projects and classroom activities rather than relying solely on textbooks.
Across all 18 blocks of the district, 22 Saraswati Vidya Niketan model schools are using activity-based learning to make subjects more engaging and easier to understand.
The initiative is also aimed at providing students in government schools with opportunities to prepare for competitive examinations such as NEET and IIT entrance tests.
22 Model Schools Focus on Practical Learning
Each of the 22 model schools has a special group of 40 students being prepared for NEET and IIT examinations.
This means around 880 students across the district are receiving technology-supported academic guidance as part of the initiative.
Teachers are using platforms such as the Vidya Saathi app and Bihar School Live Classes to provide students with additional learning resources and guidance from teachers and subject experts.
Students Build Science and Mathematics Models
The shift towards practical learning can be seen at the government higher secondary school in Bhainsahi, Chanpatia, where a special model section has been created for 40 Class 9 students.
Every week, students are encouraged to turn their ideas into projects. Some create science models, while others work on projects related to mathematics and environmental awareness.
Teachers guide the students in designing and developing these projects using locally available materials, while the school administration provides necessary project-related resources.
The models and learning materials created by students have also transformed classrooms into spaces resembling small laboratories.
Difficult Subjects Become Easier Through Activities
Teachers are focusing on making classroom learning more interactive through games, activities and practical demonstrations.
Along with computer-based learning, students are encouraged to understand concepts through activities rather than simply memorising information.
School authorities say this approach can make difficult chapters easier to understand while also increasing students’ interest and participation in the classroom.
Weekly Assessments Track Student Progress
Students’ learning levels are assessed every week to identify areas where they need additional support.
The weekly assessments help teachers identify difficult subjects and learning gaps among individual students. Additional guidance is then provided according to each student’s requirements.
The model-school initiative also focuses on developing habits related to cleanliness, discipline and environmental protection alongside academic learning.
Digital Platforms Support NEET-IIT Preparation
Technology is playing an important role in the specialised preparation being offered to students.
Through the Vidya Saathi app and Bihar School Live Classes, students can access additional educational content and receive guidance beyond their regular classroom teaching.
The initiative aims to give government-school students greater exposure to digital learning resources and competitive-examination-oriented preparation.
Focus on Modern and Experiential Education
