Patna: Bihar residents will now be able to create an Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) from home within minutes, without having to visit a hospital or service centre. The facility has been introduced under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission, with the Bihar Health Security Committee issuing a step-by-step process for online registration through a mobile phone or computer. However, residents will need an Aadhaar card linked to an active mobile number to complete the online registration.
Aadhaar-Linked Mobile Number Is Essential
During the registration process, an OTP will be sent to the mobile number linked with the applicant’s Aadhaar card for identity verification. The digital health account will be created only after the OTP is successfully authenticated.
Residents whose Aadhaar is not linked to a mobile number will therefore not be able to use the online facility at present. They will first need to complete the mobile-number linkage with Aadhaar before registering for the account online.
How To Create The Account Using A Mobile
Residents will first need to download and install the official Ayushman Bharat Health Account app from the Google Play Store. After opening the app, users will need to select “Register” and then choose “Register Now”.
The applicant will then have to enter the required Aadhaar details, provide consent and click “Next”. An OTP will be sent to the mobile number linked with Aadhaar. After entering and verifying the OTP, the Ayushman Bharat Health Account will be generated, and the digital health card can be downloaded immediately.
Account Can Also Be Created Through A Computer
Residents who prefer using a computer will be able to complete the registration through the official Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission website. Users will need to visit abdm.gov.in and select the “Create ABHA Number” option.
They will then need to select Aadhaar as the identification method and enter the required details. After filling in the captcha and providing consent, an OTP will be sent to the Aadhaar-linked mobile number.
Once the OTP is verified, the digital health card will appear on the screen. Users will be able to download it, print a copy or keep it in digital format for future use.

For the convenience of residents, the health department has also shared a video tutorial explaining the complete registration process. The tutorial will help users understand each step involved in creating an Ayushman Bharat Health Account online.
Aadhaar-Mobile Linkage Will Be Mandatory
The Bihar Health Security Committee has clarified that Aadhaar-mobile linkage will be mandatory for online Ayushman Bharat Health Account creation. Residents whose Aadhaar is not linked to an active mobile number will need to complete that linkage before they can use the online registration facility.
The new facility will allow eligible residents to complete the account creation process from home through a mobile phone or computer, reducing the need to visit hospitals or service centres solely for registration.
