Purnia/Patna: A three-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a teenage neighbour in the Belori area under Mufassil police station in Bihar’s Purnia district. The accused has been arrested and taken into custody, police said.
The child was admitted to a government hospital for treatment and is reported to be in stable condition.
Child Allegedly Taken To Nearby Depot
According to the girl’s father, the child was playing outside her home while a Ganesh Chaturthi fair was being held nearby.
He alleged that the teenage neighbour took the girl away on the pretext of showing her the fair but instead took her to a nearby depot, where she was allegedly sexually assaulted.
When the child did not return home, her family began searching for her. They reportedly heard her cries and rushed towards the depot, where they found the accused with the child.
Local residents subsequently gathered at the spot and apprehended the teenager before informing the police.
Police Begin Investigation
Police reached the location after receiving information, took the accused into custody and began investigating the incident.
Sadar SDPO Abhinav Parashar said the accused had been arrested and that the child was undergoing a medical examination.
“The accused has been arrested. A medical examination of the girl is being conducted, and a forensic team is investigating the matter.”
The police said the forensic team is examining the circumstances of the incident as part of the investigation.
Family Demands Strict Punishment
The incident has triggered outrage among local residents. The girl’s family has demanded the harshest possible punishment for the accused.
The investigation and medical examination are underway.
