Patna, September 25: Bihar Tourism has launched a special digital content competition to showcase the religious, cultural and tourism significance of Gaya’s Pitripaksh Mela 2026 through videos and other digital formats.
Titled “Pitripaksh Mela: Ek Influencer Ki Nazar Se”, the competition aims to encourage creators and the public to present the traditions and heritage of Gaya through original visual storytelling.
The competition is open to content creators, bloggers, travel influencers, photographers, videographers and reel makers who have at least 25,000 followers on any one social media account. Members of the general public can also participate.
Pitripaksh Traditions Through Digital Content
Participants will be required to create original content showcasing Pitripaksh Mela 2026, pind daan, tarpan, shraddha traditions and Gaya’s religious and heritage sites.
The tourism department said the competition is intended to go beyond simply documenting the fair and encourage participants to highlight its different cultural and tourism dimensions.
Content can showcase local traditions, people, surroundings, religious sites and tourism opportunities through photographs, videos, blogs, reels or other specified digital formats.
Tourism Secretary Lokesh Kumar Singh said Pitripaksh Mela is not only a religious gathering but is also connected with Gaya’s centuries-old cultural traditions, customs and heritage.
He said digital content can help take these traditions to younger audiences as well as visitors from across India and abroad.

Entries Open Until October 11
The competition will accept entries from September 25 until 5 pm on October 11, 2026.
Participants will have to submit their entries online according to the prescribed guidelines. Registration and detailed rules and conditions are available on the official Bihar Tourism website.
The department has specified that participants must submit original and self-created content related to Pitripaksh Mela and Gaya.
Pitripaksh Mela Runs Until October 10
The Pitripaksh Mela 2026 is being held in Gaya from September 25 to October 10.
The annual gathering attracts devotees from different parts of India who visit Gaya for rituals including pind daan and tarpan.
Bihar Tourism said the festival also provides an opportunity to showcase Gaya’s cultural traditions and historical heritage to visitors.
Through the competition, the department aims to create a wider digital representation of the event by bringing together different perspectives from content creators and participants.
10 Winners To Receive Rs 8.25 Lakh
A total prize pool of Rs 8.25 lakh has been announced for 10 winners.
The prize distribution is:
- First prize: Rs 3 lakh
- Second prize: Rs 2 lakh
- Third prize: Rs 1 lakh
- Fourth prize: Rs 50,000 each for two participants
- Appreciation prizes: Rs 25,000 each for five participants
The competition will therefore recognise 10 participants for their digital content showcasing the religious, cultural and tourism dimensions of Pitripaksh Mela and Gaya.
