Patna: Participation by government and non-government institutions in timely payment of property tax within the Patna Municipal Corporation area is increasing, with Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) emerging as the highest-paying government institution in the current financial year.
PMCH management paid Rs 28.50 lakh in property tax.
The top government property taxpayers are:
- Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH): Rs 28.50 lakh
- IGIMS: Rs 24.87 lakh
- Patna Women’s College: Rs 14.10 lakh
- Raj Bhavan: Rs 11.76 lakh
- Chandragupt Institute of Management: Rs 10.90 lakh
The institutions that paid their property tax on time have availed themselves of applicable rebates. Their payments also contribute to civic development and municipal services, according to the information provided.
Medanta Leads Non-Government Properties
Among non-government properties, Jay Prabha Medanta Hospital paid the highest property tax, amounting to Rs 49.62 lakh.
Other major taxpayers in this category are:
- HMRI Hospital: Rs 18.20 lakh
- Bailey Square Mall: Rs 17.83 lakh
- Kurji Holy Family Hospital: Rs 16.52 lakh
- St. Michael’s School: Rs 11.13 lakh
More Than 200 Properties Assessed In One Day
PMC is also conducting a door-to-door outreach and awareness campaign to improve property tax collection.
Municipal teams are surveying properties and taking necessary action related to tax assessment, reassessment and recovery of outstanding dues from properties that had previously remained outside the tax net.
More than 200 new properties were assessed for property tax on Friday. The highest number, exceeding 60 properties, was recorded in the Nutan Rajdhani zone.
New properties were also brought under the tax net in other zones:
- Azimabad: 33
- Bankipur: 17
- Kankarbagh: 36
- Patliputra: 40
- Patna City: 16
During the campaign, 54 property owners paid their tax on the spot, while 45 properties underwent self-assessment revision.
Another 28 properties were reassessed after discrepancies were detected during field verification, with penalties applied.
Rs 74.72 Lakh Collected From 832 Properties
The campaign resulted in property tax collection of approximately Rs 74.72 lakh from 832 properties on Friday.
Zone-wise collection was:
- Azimabad: Rs 7.42 lakh from 119 properties
- Bankipur: Rs 8.09 lakh from 114 properties
- Kankarbagh: Rs 12.80 lakh from 165 properties
- Nutan Rajdhani: Rs 23.96 lakh from 180 properties
- Patliputra: Rs 19.19 lakh from 193 properties
- Patna City: Rs 3.25 lakh from 161 properties
PMC Tax Counters To Open On Sundays
For citizens’ convenience, all PMC tax counters will remain open on Sundays from 10am to 7pm.
Property owners can pay their property tax at the tax counter nearest to them.
The designated tax counter locations are:
- Azimabad Zone: Meena Bazar, Gulzarbagh, Patna City
- Patna City Zone: Meena Bazar, Gulzarbagh, Patna City
- Bankipur Zone: Community Hall, Ward 38, Kadamkuan Main Road, near Machhli Gali
- Kankarbagh Zone: Near Tempo Stand, Kankarbagh
- Nutan Rajdhani Zone: Room No. 5, opposite GST Bhawan, Veer Chand Patel Marg
- Patliputra Zone: Opposite Sinha Library, Chhajjubagh Road, Chhajjubagh
