Patna: Bihar has showcased large-scale investment opportunities in the power and green energy sectors at the Rising Bihar Investor Summit 2026, with the state highlighting a planned investment of Rs 1,88,383 crore across power generation, transmission, distribution and renewable energy projects.
The summit was held on Thursday at Hotel Taj City Centre, Patna, on the theme ‘Bihar – The Emerging Investment Destination of India’. Around 200–250 representatives from industry, investor groups, financial institutions, entrepreneurs and business organisations participated in the event.
The energy sector received special attention, with investors briefed on opportunities in solar power, solar parks, battery storage, pumped storage, green hydrogen, biomass and green energy corridors.

Bihar Targets Rs 5 Lakh Crore Investment by November
According to the message issued for the summit, Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary said the Bihar government has set a target of attracting Rs 5 lakh crore in investments by November 2026.
The government invited industrialists, entrepreneurs and business leaders to explore investment opportunities in Bihar.
The summit also highlighted the state’s industrial and infrastructure expansion, including the development of more than 100 industrial areas and an increase in the state budget to Rs 3.47 lakh crore, according to the government.
Energy Sector Plans Include Solar, Storage and Green Corridors
The state has prepared a large-scale investment plan covering power generation, transmission, distribution and renewable energy.
The planned Rs 1,88,383 crore investment includes projects involving:
- Solar power and solar parks
- Battery Energy Storage Systems
- Pumped Storage Projects
- Green energy corridors
- Green hydrogen
- Biomass-based energy projects
- Rooftop solar
- Power generation, transmission and distribution infrastructure
The government said these projects are intended to strengthen Bihar’s energy infrastructure while supporting the expansion of industrial and commercial activity.
Energy Minister Invites Investors to Explore Green Energy
The third sectoral investment session on Energy was chaired by Energy Minister Shailesh Kumar, also known as Bulo Mandal.
Energy Secretary-cum-Chairman and Managing Director of BSPHCL Ajay Yadav presented details of reforms, achievements, investment policies and future opportunities in the sector.
The Energy Minister said Bihar’s growing consumer base and increasing energy demand were creating opportunities for investment in the power sector.
He also highlighted the state’s focus on green energy, including rooftop solar under the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, Pumped Storage Projects and Battery Energy Storage Systems.

2,554 Agricultural Feeders to Be Solarised
The government has approved the solarisation of 2,554 agricultural feeders under the PM-KUSUM scheme.
According to the Energy Department, solar power plants with a combined capacity of 2,585 MW will be established under the initiative.
The government said the programme is aimed at promoting renewable energy while also supporting efforts to increase farmers’ income.
Energy Secretary Ajay Yadav also informed investors that the Bihar Green Hydrogen Policy 2026 had been approved a day before the summit.
2.5 Lakh Rooftop Solar Systems in Focus
The state is also working towards expanding rooftop solar installations, with around 2.5 lakh rooftop solar systems being promoted.
Alongside rooftop solar and agricultural feeder solarisation, the government is seeking investment in battery storage and other energy storage technologies.
Investors were also briefed on opportunities in solar parks, biomass-based projects and solar projects at different locations across Bihar.
Pumped Storage and Green Energy Corridors Underway
The Energy Department said work is progressing on Green Energy Corridors and Pumped Storage Projects as part of the state’s renewable energy expansion.
At the same time, generation, transmission and distribution networks are being strengthened to support the power requirements of new industries.
The government said coordination between departments and project facilitation would be provided to investors setting up energy projects in the state.
Investors Discuss Land, Policy and Energy Projects
The sectoral session was followed by a question-and-answer session and a Business-to-Government (B2G) meeting, where investors interacted directly with the Energy Minister and Energy Secretary.
Discussions covered the Renewable Energy Policy, PM-KUSUM 2.0, solar energy, energy storage, nuclear and thermal power, land availability, Green Hydrogen Policy and infrastructure requirements.
Investment proposals, power generation, transmission and distribution requirements and potential areas of collaboration were also discussed.
Senior Energy Officials Attend Summit
The session was attended by Rahul Kumar (IAS), Managing Director of NBPDCL and BREDA; Nawal Kishor Choudhary (IAS), Managing Director of Bihar State Power Transmission Company Limited; and Vishal Raj (IAS), Managing Director of Bihar State Power Generation Company Limited.
Officials responded to queries raised by investors and outlined the opportunities emerging from Bihar’s ongoing power and renewable energy expansion.
With the government positioning energy and green technologies as key areas for investment, the summit sought to connect potential investors with upcoming projects, policies and infrastructure opportunities in Bihar.
