Patna: The State Drug Controller Office, Patna, assisted by Kankarbagh police, conducted a surprise inspection at Cellulas Pharma Private Limited in Patna on Thursday, uncovering alleged irregularities in medicine storage and licensing, along with expired medicines and a large quantity of liquor on the premises.
The inspection was carried out by a team led by the State Drug Controller at the establishment located at D-167, PC Colony, Kankarbagh. Mrityunjay Kumar Singh, who operates the establishment, was present during the inspection.
Three people were arrested and sent to jail following action by the police and Excise Department in connection with allegations relating to liquor sales.
Medicines Stored Beyond Licensed Area
According to the inspection findings, the establishment failed to produce records of medicine purchases and sales, along with other required documents. Officials also found that the prescribed signboard was not displayed in accordance with licensing conditions and that medicine storage arrangements were unsatisfactory.
The investigation found that the firm held a drug licence for only one room measuring 11.15 square metres, while medicines were being stored across four rooms.
The main entrance of the flat was subsequently sealed to facilitate a detailed investigation.
Sale Of 10 Medicines Prohibited
Following the inspection, officials issued Form-15, prohibiting the sale and distribution of 10 specified medicines.
Two expired medicines were seized under Form-16, while samples of seven medicines were collected for testing and analysis.
The establishment has been directed to submit the required purchase and sale records and other documents within five days.
Further action will be taken in accordance with the rules after officials examine the medicine test reports and the relevant records.
Liquor Found On Premises, Three Arrested
During the inspection, officials also discovered a large quantity of liquor bottles on the premises and informed the police and Excise Department.
Three individuals were arrested and sent to jail in connection with allegations relating to liquor sales. Further action in the matter is being taken under the applicable rules.
The Drug Control Directorate said inspection and investigation drives were continuing to ensure medicine quality and compliance with regulatory requirements.
