Patna: Rainfall was reported in Munger and Khagaria on Sunday morning, while light drizzle is expected in seven districts of Bihar. Most of the state is likely to experience dry weather, with no significant change in maximum and minimum temperatures.
According to the forecast, light drizzle may occur in West Champaran, East Champaran, Gopalganj, Siwan, Saran, Sheohar and Sitamarhi. The remaining districts are expected to remain mainly dry.
There is no rainfall alert for Patna, where the sky is likely to remain clear or partly cloudy. Daytime sunshine may cause a slight rise in the feeling of warmth, while mornings and nights are expected to remain relatively pleasant.
Monsoon May Withdraw From Bihar By October 15
The withdrawal of the southwest monsoon from Bihar is underway. The withdrawal line has been passing through Supaul over the past week, and prevailing weather conditions indicate that the monsoon could retreat completely from the state between October 12 and 15.
Weather systems responsible for rainfall in Bihar and neighbouring areas have weakened, reducing the likelihood of widespread precipitation in the coming days. However, local weather conditions could still bring light drizzle to some districts.
Bay Of Bengal System May Influence Weather
A low-pressure area is likely to develop over the Bay of Bengal around October 13, according to the forecast.
A cyclonic circulation currently located near Thailand could reach the Andaman Sea around October 11, potentially leading to the formation of a low-pressure area over the southeast Bay of Bengal.
The impact of this system on Bihar’s weather will depend on its movement and subsequent development. Although widespread rainfall is currently unlikely, the outlook could change as the system evolves.
Rain may also occur after the monsoon withdraws if other weather systems become active.
October Rainfall 33% Below Normal
Bihar has recorded below-normal rainfall so far this month. Against the expected 34 mm of rainfall by this point in October, the state has received 24.4 mm, approximately 33% below normal.
With most districts likely to remain dry over the coming days, the extent of any further rainfall will depend largely on local weather conditions and the development of the low-pressure system over the Bay of Bengal.
