Patna : Tourists visiting Valmiki Tiger Reserve (VTR) in Bihar’s West Champaran district will soon have an additional accommodation option, with 73 rooms available for booking at a facility near the Narayani River in Valmikinagar. The property is being operated by Patna’s Hotel Maurya, and bookings have started ahead of its formal inauguration, expected in the first week of November.
The facility, operating as Mahavan Resorts and Convention Centre, offers accommodation across three blocks and four halls for weddings, parties, conferences and other events. Tourists can book rooms through online and offline channels, with MakeMyTrip available for online reservations.
The room tariff is approximately Rs 4,500 per night, although the price may vary depending on the season and booking conditions.
The opening of bookings comes ahead of the expected start of the new VTR tourism season on October 16, offering visitors another option for staying in the region.
73 Rooms Across Three Blocks
The accommodation facility has 73 rooms distributed across three blocks named Mahua, Jamun and Semal, reflecting the area’s natural surroundings.
The Mahua block has 23 rooms, while the Jamun and Semal blocks have 25 rooms each.
According to Sumit Kumar, the convention centre’s in-charge, room bookings have begun even though work on the halls is still underway. The formal inauguration is expected to take place in the first week of November.
Visitors can make reservations online through MakeMyTrip or use the offline booking facility. The management is also preparing to operate a restaurant to provide meals and breakfast for guests.
Four Halls For Weddings And Events
Apart from accommodation, the property has four halls designed for social functions, meetings and other gatherings.
The largest venue, Aranya Amphitheatre, has a capacity of 500 people. The other facilities include Triveni Hall, which can accommodate 132 people; Gandak Ballroom, with a capacity of more than 100 people; and Sonha Chamber Boardroom, designed for meetings involving 22 people.
These venues are intended for weddings, birthday celebrations, parties, conferences and business meetings.
However, work related to the halls remains underway, delaying the formal inauguration until November. Room bookings have been opened in advance so that visitors can begin making accommodation arrangements.
Hotel Maurya Took Over Operations In May
The Bihar Tourism Department handed over the operation of the convention centre to Patna’s Hotel Maurya on May 17, 2026. The property is now being operated as Mahavan Resorts and Convention Centre.
The facility combines guest accommodation with event spaces, potentially serving both wildlife tourists and visitors travelling to Valmikinagar for social functions and official gatherings.
The availability of 73 rooms provides an additional choice for tourists seeking accommodation near the tiger reserve and the Narayani River.
VTR Tourism Season Expected To Begin On October 16
The new tourism season at Valmiki Tiger Reserve is expected to begin on October 16, bringing renewed attention to tourism facilities in Valmikinagar and surrounding areas.
A helicopter service between Patna and Valmikinagar may also begin around the start of the season, although its commencement has not been confirmed.
With bookings already open, the new accommodation facility is expected to provide an additional option for visitors exploring VTR and other natural attractions in the region.
The proposed restaurant and the four event halls could further expand the services available to tourists, families and groups visiting Valmikinagar.
