Nalanda International University a Gift of Modi and Nitish Kumar, Says Bihar Deputy CM Samrat Chaudhary

Nalanda: Bihar’s Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary hailed the Nalanda International University as a gift from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, emphasizing that the university stands as a symbol of the revival of knowledge in the historic land of Nalanda. Chaudhary also announced plans to develop a corridor in the region to further enrich its legacy.

Addressing over 1,000 delegates from across the world at the Gyan Kumbh event of the university, Chaudhary reflected on the rich history of Nalanda University, which once housed over 30 lakh books in its library. He highlighted the devastation caused by foreign invaders who looted the country’s wealth and destroyed knowledge centers like Nalanda.

Chaudhary praised the vision of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for rebuilding the region’s historical significance by establishing a modern international university in Nalanda. He further acknowledged the role of Prime Minister Modi, who inaugurated the new campus during his third term, in restoring the importance of Nalanda as a hub of learning.

The Deputy CM also stressed that under Modi’s leadership, India is poised to emerge as a “golden lion” in the 21st century, shifting away from its historical status as the “golden bird.” He commended the advancements in education, defense, science, and the economy under the current government, noting that the new education policy, which encourages local language education, has already been implemented in Bihar.
