Patna: The Bihar Education Department has prohibited teachers and non-teaching staff from wearing jeans and T-shirts in government schools, directing all employees to follow a formal dress code while on school premises.
The directive was issued by the department’s newly appointed Additional Chief Secretary, CK Anil, in a letter sent to District Education Officers (DEOs) across the state on Friday. District officials have been instructed to ensure that the new dress code is implemented in government schools.
Formal Dress Code For School Staff
Under the new instructions, teaching and non-teaching employees working in state-run schools must wear formal clothing during working hours.
The department has made it clear that casual attire, including jeans and T-shirts, will not be permitted on school premises. The directive is aimed at ensuring compliance with the prescribed dress code across government educational institutions.
Education Department Plans AI Integration
Alongside the dress code directive, the Bihar government is preparing to encourage the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in government schools and other educational institutions.
The Education Department has issued instructions to promote the use of AI tools among staff and officials. According to the department, AI applications in education are expanding, and their use could help reduce routine administrative work, save time and improve productivity.
Education Minister Mithilesh Tiwari had earlier directed officials to prepare a plan for introducing AI-based tools in the department.
Transfer Proposal Covers 10,000 Employees
The Education Department is also considering a large-scale transfer exercise involving approximately 10,000 employees posted in district and regional offices.
Under the proposal, employees who have remained at the same posting or position for 10 years may be transferred to other locations.
The department is also examining the possibility of establishing a state-level cadre for these employees. Existing service rules may be amended if required to facilitate the proposed changes.
CK Anil Takes Charge Of Education Department
The Bihar government recently appointed senior IAS officer CK Anil as the Additional Chief Secretary of the Education Department.
Anil previously served as the District Magistrate of Siwan, where his administrative actions against the influence of Mohammad Shahabuddin attracted attention beyond Bihar.
His appointment comes as the department considers changes to school administration, staff management and the use of technology in government educational institutions.
