Patna: A case has been registered in East Champaran district of Bihar after a video went viral in which a young man hurled abusive and vulgar remarks against Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary and Union Minister Chirag Paswan. The man, while abusing the leaders, also made offensive comments about a particular caste and openly challenged them, saying he was “ready to fight” and that they should try to demolish his house if they had the courage.
The video was streamed live on Facebook and later widely circulated online. In the footage, the youth introduced himself as Rajesh Yadav, claiming to be a resident of Jagiraha village under Ghorasahan police station in East Champaran. He said that he was currently living and working in Mumbai, where the video was recorded. The language used in the livestream was aggressive, insulting and clearly targeted at caste groups and elected leaders, raising concern over the possibility of disruption to social harmony.
After the video spread rapidly, Ghorasahan police station in-charge Sanjeev Kumar filed a complaint on the basis of his own statement. He stated that the abusive video not only insulted top government leaders but also contained explicit caste references, which makes it a serious criminal matter. When police reached the accused’s house in Jagiraha, local residents confirmed that the person seen in the video was Rajesh Kumar Rai. However, he was not found at home and is believed to still be in Mumbai.
Police have stated that by using caste-based slurs against Chirag Paswan, who belongs to a Scheduled Caste, the accused violated the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. Along with this, several other serious sections of the Indian Penal Code have been added for threatening public representatives, using highly abusive language, and making the video viral on social media. Officers have warned that such content can disturb peace and trigger tensions, and therefore the case is being taken up with priority.
Police efforts are underway to trace and arrest the accused. Authorities have also appealed to the public not to share the video further, as it may worsen the impact on law and order.
