Patna: A new proposal by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs has brought fresh hope for young people, especially in Bihar. The plan suggests that 50% of jobs in the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) could be reserved for former Agniveers. Earlier, only 10% of seats were reserved for them. Although the proposal has not yet been approved, it is being seriously considered and discussed among officials.
One of the most important parts of the proposal is the relaxation in the recruitment process. According to the draft, former Agniveers may not have to go through written exams or physical tests like the Physical Standard Test (PST) and Physical Efficiency Test (PET). If this rule is applied, it will make it much easier and faster for them to get jobs in the CISF after completing their military service.
The CISF has already shared a circular about this proposal and asked for suggestions from different stakeholders. Recruitment rules are usually reviewed every five years, and this change is being considered as part of that process. A final decision is expected soon, but no official announcement has been made yet.
For the youth of Bihar, especially those in Patna and nearby areas, this could be a major opportunity. Many young people have joined or are planning to join the armed forces under the Agnipath scheme, which was launched in 2022. Under this scheme, soldiers serve for four years, and only 25% are kept for permanent roles. The rest have to look for other jobs, so this new proposal could give them a clear and secure career path.
Similar steps have already been taken in other forces. The Border Security Force (BSF) has announced a 50% reservation for Agniveers, and other security forces and state police departments are also giving them priority. If the CISF proposal is approved, it will further increase job opportunities and strengthen the future of many trained young people across the country.
